Historic Madison Park's Website http://www.historicmadisonpark.com

Mission Statement:

The public spaces of Madison Park are a precious resource, an oasis in our urban environment. Our goal is to reassess our public spaces and to reinvigorate community involvement in creating a neighborhood vision that takes into account attributes of our historic past as well as the needs of our current and future diverse community.
How we got to where we are now:

A consistent theme is often heard among the community members of Madison Park; "Let's bring back Madison Park", "What happened to the charm?", "Let's work on a neighborhood vision that includes all public spaces and creates a beautiful environment that our community deserves", "Let's keep the trees, not cut them down; let's create plant and flower beds, remove concrete, consider underground wiring," "Can we do something with 'that park' on 43rd, it's such wasted space. Its 500 feet of waterfront that no one has access to. It's soggy and seems to have become a dog park." These comments and hundreds more just like them are what we think about when determining a project's focus at Historic Madison Park.

The lack of a cohesive neighborhood community plan for our area has stalled any progress for a solid and forward moving pro-active blueprint that could have taken advantage of some of the generous city programs and grants that could have produced unified and satisfying results. Not having a plan in place also leaves us vulnerable. Our community and neighborhood is open to increased density and whatever the city brings with respect to zoning in order to meet the increasing demands of population. With a community established vision and plan in place, created and stamped by the community of Madison Park, we have a blueprint established, providinga framework from which future development and density can stem.

Be involved with Madison Park, again or for the first time and provide your spirit, drive and creativity.
